Join us for a webinar focusing on EU data protection reform and the new General Data Protection Regulation. This webinar marks the start of a series of webinars focusing on key aspects of the GDPR.
After four years of debate, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) has now been signed and will apply from May 2018. The GDPR will replace the Data Protection Act 1998 and, whilst many of the main concepts and principles are the same, there are some significant additional requirements and enhancements.
The GDPR will have implications for all businesses and, with potential fines of up to 4% of global turnover or €20m, this legislation is not to be ignored. Businesses should start to take steps now in order to ensure compliance in a years’ time.
Lawyers from our Employment Law group will take you through some of the key provisions in the GDPR that will affect your business, including:
- Territorial Scope and the One Stop Shop
- Definition of Consent
- Record keeping and Privacy Impact Assessments
- Data Protection Officer
- Rights of Data Subjects
Businesses need to ensure that data protection is embedded into their culture and that they have documentation to demonstrate their accountability.
We will provide advice on the steps that you can take now in order to achieve compliance with the GDPR.
