With the current talent drought, employers are being forced to recruit from overseas to meet skills shortages. However, the fast changing and complex immigration rules governing the employment of non-UK nationals proves to be a minefield for many. In 2017 the Home Office increased its powers to prosecute directors and close down non compliant businesses. With the impact of Brexit compounding issues, those with recruitment responsibilities must ensure they are up to date and fully trained in their obligations.
At this practical and interactive training event, our special business immigration solicitors will be joined by guest speakers Paul Leadbeater of Handley Leadbeater, a specialist in vetting and document verification, and Ian Westwood of The Westwood Organisation, a former Home Office Chief Immigration Officer.
Paul and Ian will bring to life the importance of document verification and right to work checks, with real life examples of fraudulent documentation. This engaging session will assist employers in recognising and mitigating the immigration risks.
This full day event will provide comprehensive guidance on the following:
- Employing non-UK nationals
- What to do when an employee’s visa expires (and other tricky issues)
- Compliance obligations… Getting it right!
- Carrying out successful right to work checks and avoiding civil penalties
- Recognising fraudulent documents
- Brexit and its implications – how should we prepare?
This course is a must for HR professionals, recruitment managers and business managers of all levels.
